Boone Country Garden Club was founded in March 1973 as a Federated garden
club and has continued to support the goals and objectives of the district, state,
region and national organizations. The club is located in Defiance, Mo. However,
members live in Defiance, New Melle, Augusta, Femme Osage, St. Charles and
St. Louis County areas.
The club objectives are:
To advance the fine arts of gardening, landscape design, floral design and the
study of horticulture.
To preserve the natural beauty and historical significance of the Femme Osage
Valley.
To aid in the conservation of our natural resources and stimulate interest in
roadside and community beautification.
During the club's existence, it has been active in the surrounding communities
with many varied gardening projects. It received a grant and planted trees at
the Katy Trail trailheads in Defiance and Matson, Mo. The club also received a
Historic Gardens grant in 2004 from Principal Financial Group and established
an herb garden at the historic Kamphoefner House in New Melle, Mo.
On the state level, the club was honored in 2002, 2003 and 2008 as the "Garden Club of the Year" for the many projects and activities the members
accomplished.
