Cuba Hills Garden Club Hosts 2007
Mid-Central District Fall Meeting October 23, 2007
"Growing Sunflowers"

The Cuba Hills Garden Club hosted the Mid-Central District Fall Meeting at the Wallace House on October 23, 2007.  56 members and guests were in attendance.  Jardin du Lac members were in attendance. The business meeting was followed by a lovely luncheon and the installation of new district officers by 2007 - 2009 FGCM President, Maisie Keeser.  Richard Seidel, the guest presenter, told us about raising sunflowers on his 180 acre farm in Bourbon, Mo. The sunflowers cover 2 acres and many visitors stop by to just stand in the sunflowers.  He's hooked on them and grows many "exotic" varieties.  He displayed his Blue and Red Ribbons from the Crawford County Fair of July 2006.

MCD will join with NED to create an Educational Display at the 75th Anniversary of FGCM in Jefferson City, Mo. in 2008.  The period for our display will be the 1930's & 1940's.

A silent auction as well as door prizes were the final activities of the day.  $ 395 was raised by the silent auction to benefit the district.  A beautiful painted picture of a scenic view was also auctioned off by Cuba Hills Garden Club.

Cuba Hills Garden Club Co-Pesidents, Bea Whiteside and Rosemary Gruver, welcomed club members from each of the clubs in the district who all joined together to make the day a most enjoyable event.

Great job Cuba Hills for your gracious hospitality!
